Emergency response after person hit by train at crossing near West Malling

A person has been taken to hospital after being hit by a train.

British Transport Police, paramedics and the fire service's hazardous rescue team were spotted in Ryarsh Lane, West Malling at around 1pm.

The services have been pictured down the narrow lane responding to the incident as an air ambulance landed nearby.

The incident happened at crossing about three miles towards Otford and Sevenoaks.

Southeastern services between Swanley and Ashford International were suspended following the incident between Otford and Maidstone East, but by 3.40pm, normal services were resumed.

An eyewitness said: "There's loads of emergency at the scene now and the air ambulance has just landed nearby."

A spokesman for the British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police were called to West Malling railway station at 12.45pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and a person has been taken to a local hospital.
