Fire crews remain at the scene of a paper mill blaze more than 24 hours after they first arrived to tackle the flames.
Huge plumes of smoke could be seen coming from Smurfit Kappa Townsend Hook in Mill Street, Snodland, yesterday afternoon.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called just before 2.30pm after the blaze involving stacks of paper broke out.
They said four fire engines, a technical rescue unit, and a volunteer response team were at the scene.
By 8.30pm, the response had been scaled back to two fire engines and the technical rescue unit.
At 9.30am this morning, two fire engines remained on site with firefighters pulling piles of paper apart to extinguish any remaining fires.
Residents and workers in the area were being urged to keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke.
However, this advice was lifted at 7pm this evening.
The latest KFRS update said the incident is being scaled back again to one fire engine with crews maintaining a watching brief overnight.
