Medals from the First World War have been stolen by a burglar.
A British War Medal and a Victory Medal - believed to bear the inscription A.J Kendall on the edge - were taken from the veteran's great-grandson's Mereworth home.
The thief smashed the patio door of the Horns Lane home and also stole around £100 in cash, a silver tankard and an Xbox console along with games.
The break-in is believed to have happened between 11.30am and 5.30pm last Tuesday - and police are appealing for help from anyone who may have information or who has recently been offered medals for sale.
They are described as a Victory Medal and a British War Medal and it is believed both bear the inscription of the name A.J Kendall around their edge.
PC Michelle Marshall said: "These medals have stayed in the family for almost 100 years and are of huge sentimental value to the Mr Kendall's great grandson who has only recently taken ownership of them.
"This is a despicable crime and we are working hard to find those responsible and to recover what are precious and irreplaceable items to this family. We would ask anyone that may have any information to contact us."
Anyone with information is asked to phone PC Marshall on 01622 604244 or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
