A golf club owner has blasted thieves who stole food and ruined supplies of bread during a break-in.
Katie Still, co-owner of West Malling Golf Club, reacted with disgust at the theft of the food and a freezer at a time when many are struggling to get the produce they need in the shops.
Kent Police are investigating the break-in, which took place last night at the club in Trottiscliffe Road, West Malling. Food including potatoes, prawns, sausages rolls and chips were taken.
Ms Still said: "They have pulled out the racks and got the freezer out, which was about 30-years-old, and there's an upright freezer which they have emptied. There was bread left in the storeroom, and there were bits of food down the 18th fairway.
"What's annoyed me is the fact of the waste of the bread and rolls which we have had to put in the bin. People are saying they can't buy bread for love nor money at the moment, it's heartbreaking.
"I would just say that we are currently in a time that's like wartime, I wouldn't imagine people would carry on like this. Some people are struggling to get out for food. The full force of the law needs to come down on these people."
A Kent Police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 7.15am on Friday, March 20, to reports of a theft the previous evening at a golf club in Trottiscliffe Road, West Malling.
"It is alleged a freezer containing food and which was kept outside a building was stolen. Food from a second freezer was also said to have been taken. An investigation is ongoing."
