Man in 40s in critical condition after ambulance hits pedestrian on A25 Maidstone Road in Borough Green

A man is in hospital fighting for his life after being hit by an ambulance.
The accident happened on the A25 Maidstone Road, in Borough Green, between Maidstone and Sevenoaks, in the early hours of today.
The man, who was on foot, was struck not long after midnight and the road remained closed in both directions for more than seven hours, reopening at about 7.40am.
Police are now are appealing for information.
A police spokesman said: "At around 12.20am on Saturday, October 2, an ambulance travelling towards Platt was involved in a collision with a pedestrian on the A25 Maidstone Road.
"The incident happened between the junctions with Brockway and Crow Hill Road.
"The pedestrian, a local man in his 40s, was treated for injuries at the scene and was taken to a London hospital, where he remains in a critical condition."
Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is investigating and officers are appealing for witnesses to get in contact.
They would also like dashcam or CCTV footage that shows the ambulance or pedestrian before the accident and in the moments leading up to it.
