Man hit by train at West Malling has 'life-threatening and changing injuries'

A man who was hit by a train yesterday remains in hospital with life-threatening and life-changing injuries.

The casualty, who is in his 20s, was rushed to hospital after being struck near West Malling station at about 12.45pm yesterday.

A huge emergency services response included police, paramedics, the fire service's hazardous response team and the air ambulance which converged on Ryarsh Lane.

Trains were stopped from running between Swanley and Ashford International while they dealt with the incident.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police today confirmed that the man was still in hospital.

They said: "BTP were called to West Malling railway station at 12.45pm following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious. The casualty is a man in his 20s.

"He’s still in hospital and his injuries are life-threatening and life-changing."
