M20 to close between junction 1 for Swanley and the M25 and junction 2 for Wrotham and Sevenoaks in missing person search
15:50, 09 November 2016
Police shut the M20 at rush hour so officers could search for a missing person.
The busy motorway was closed coastbound between junctions 1 for Swanley and the M25 interchange and 2 for Wrotham and Sevenoaks.
The motorway was closed for about an hour.
Thames Valley Police requested the closure, which Kent Police assisted with.
Thames Valley were unable to say who they are looking for.
The National Police Air Service said its helicopter was up over the Snodland area at about 2.30pm helping police with a search in an area that was difficult to access, but it is not believed to be related to the motorway closure.
