A mother chased a topless burglar off when she saw him trying to break into her home as her young children slept.
Lorna Koca spotted a man wearing just shorts and shoes crouching down with his hands in a first-floor window at the back of her home in Snodland’s High Street.
He had scaled a high wall running at the back of the house.
The 37-year-old is still feeling the impact of the attempted break-in which happened at around 10.45pm on Monday, July 10.
Mother-of-three Mrs Koca said: “Me and my husband were watching TV and the children were asleep. I had gone outside to the garden and to the alleyway to let the dog out.
“There was a man crouched on top of the wall with his hands in the window on the first-floor landing.”
Mrs Koca and her husband, Osman, both chased the burglar off their property before calling the police.
The family have now upgraded their security but are still struggling to come to terms with somebody trying to break into their home.
Mrs Koca said: “I shouted at him through shock and tried to chase him but something stopped me because you don’t know if he had a knife.
“He ran back around onto the road and my husband came out and then the man ran off towards the train station.
“Police came out to take fingerprints.
“They are investigating it now and say they have someone in mind who it could be.
“It shook us up and we couldn’t sleep that night.
“I am more worried now about unusual noises than I used to be.”
A spokesman for police said “Officers attended the scene and carried out a search of the local area, but were unable to locate a suspect.
Police have subsequently carried out forensic tests at the property and inquiries are ongoing including reviewing any CCTV opportunities.”
