Police helicopter circled Snodland after lorry broken into on A228 layby

A police helicopter was seen circling Snodland in the early hours after a lorry was broken into on the A228.

At around 3.10am police were patrolling an area near a layby where lorries park off the road, when they noticed a suspicious car.

Further enquiries revealed a lorry had been broken into and a number of items had been taken from its trailer.

The driver of the car was stopped and arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.

A police helicopter then assisted to search for any other suspects but no further arrests have been made at this stage.

A 48-year-old man from Billericay in Essex remains in custody.
