West Malling: Crash A228 Leybourne bypass involving lorry and pedestrian

A road closure is set to last into this afternoon after a crash involving a lorry and a pedestrian.
It is understood the pedestrian suffered serious injuries following the crash on the A228 at around 8am this morning.
The road had been closed in both directions between Ashton Way and Tower View, Kings Hill, after police were called at 8.04am.

Police have reopened the northbound A228, heading toward the M20, after the crash on the southbound Leybourne bypass, near West Malling railway station.
Southbound traffic towards Kings Hill is not expected to reopen until "mid-afternoon" according to police
A spokesperson from Kent Police said: "Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service remain at the scene where the southbound carriageway will remain closed until mid-afternoon. The northbound carriageway has reopened."
