A school, which has confirmed cases of coronavirus in every year group, has closed until January.
Aylesford School in Teapot Lane, closed today and will reopen at the start of the spring term, parents were told in a letter sent yesterday. (Sunday December 6)
This is 11 days earlier than it was supposed to shut for the Christmas holidays, on Friday, December 18.
The letter, from the school's head teacher Tanya Kelvie and executive head teacher Matthew Wright, reads: "Over the last few days we have been informed of many more confirmed cases of Covid-19 in our school community.
"We now have confirmed cases in every year group in the school. This afternoon we have consulted with Public Health England who support this difficult decision."
The pair said there was now a confirmed case in year 8, and students in that year group must self-isolate until December 19.
Year 7, Year 10, Year 11 and sixth form students are already self-isolating, with various end dates.
Year 9 pupils ended their self-isolating on Saturday. (December 5)
All pupils must now follow their normal school timetable online, which includes mentor time.
