Dash cam captures passenger trying to get out of moving car on M20 between West Malling and M26

Shocking footage shows a passenger trying to get out of a moving car.

A driver's dash cam recording captured the horrifying moment someone opened a car door on the M20, between junction 4 for West Malling and junction 2a for the M26 towards Sevenoaks.

Jaimie Russell, who witnessed the incident last week, estimated the vehicle was travelling at around 50mph.

He said: "The event is honestly unbelievable but fortunately no one seemed to be seriously hurt. Maybe a sprained ankle.

"Just glad no one fell out as there is no hard shoulder to avoid someone in the road."

He believes the video is proof that Smart Motorways are a bad idea.

At the end of January, the transport secretary Grant Shapps told Chatham and Aylesford MP Tracey Crouch the £92million stretch of road will not open until the government review is complete.

The Medway and Malling politician has been campaigning against the motorway scheme, which runs through her constituency.

A spokeswoman for Kent Police said: "Anyone who witnesses a road traffic offence can report it online via the following link."
