The Post Office in Snodland High Street is the latest to be promised a new look with longer opening hours.

Starting from the afternoon of Friday, September 30, the Post Office will open seven days a week, from 6am to 10pm every day.

The extended service will be from a new open-plan counter inside the Co-op Food Store, instead of from the existing fully screened sub-post office counters.

Steve Roffe, the Co-op’s area manager, said: “As a community retailer, we are committed to playing an active role in local life, embracing the area’s community spirit. We are always looking for ways to make life easier for our customers and we believe that the longer Post Office opening hours will be of great benefit to the local community.”

Post Office services will be available for an additional 64 hours a week.

The existing counters will remain and will continue to open from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday.

The shop will not have to close for the new counter to be installed. It will offer a wide range of services including post, parcels, cash withdrawals from a Post Office card account, holiday money and mobile phone top-ups.

David Gold, the area manager for Post Office Ltd, said: “This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure our services for the future.”

The nearby Post Office in the High Street at Lower Halling is also being modernised and will be ready with its new look on September 10
