Further disruption is expected to effect motorists on the M20 this week.

After drivers sat in traffic for hours between Junction 4 for Leybourne and Junction 5 for Aylesford on Saturday, the same stretch of motorway is facing more closures.

From 8pm tonight, lanes one and two on the London-bound carriageway will be shut.

The lanes will reopen at 6am tomorrow, but the overnight closures will last up to and including Friday.

On Friday, the London-bound entry slip at Junction 4 will shut at 8pm.

It will remain closed all weekend, reopening at 6am on Monday.

The closure are all part of the £92million smart motorway scheme, which will add another lane of traffic on the motorway between Junction 3 for the M26 and junction 5 for Aylesford.
