Stolen Christmas tree replaced by villagers in Aylesford
00:01, 24 December 2017
Armed with tinsel and a shovel this group didn’t give in when the Grinch stole a village’s Christmas tree. They rallied together and planted and decorated a new one.
Thieves felled the Aylesford tree, opposite the Station Road car park, leaving just a stump behind. MP Tracey Crouch took to social media to brand the perpetrator a “low life”.
In response the community - working with the parish and county council - pulled together to find and fund a replacement.
Dozens of people came along to add their own decorations, including Colin De Lorme, Nev Barnden, Carol Bennett, Vera Barnden, Amanda Barnden, Kailey McGarth, Stephanie Cesari and her son Edoardo.
