Both lanes have now been opened following an earlier closure on a stretch of the M26 after a three-car crash.
The road was closed on the eastbound carriageway between junction 2A for Wrotham and the M25 earlier this afternoon.
As a result of the closure, traffic built up on the M25 anticlockwise, with queues tailing back to the Clacket Lane services.
The crash also affected those travelling on the M20, with motorists advised to follow the M25 to junction 3 and use the coastbound M20 instead.
Emergency services have now left the scene and the stretch of road re-opened in both directions following emergency repair works to the barrier by Highways England.
It is not yet known if there were any casualties.
