Unauthorised traveller encampment pitches up at Nevill Park in Saltings Road, Snodland

A number of travellers have pitched up at a children’s play area and green space.
It is thought the unauthorised encampment arrived on Sunday morning at Nevill Park in Saltings Road, Snodland.
The council-owned area is an open ground with woodland, as well as a fishing lake and children’s adventure playground.
It is believed that they are the same group who were told to leave Lower Meadow Recreation Ground in Halling last Tuesday, after arriving on Sunday (May 14).
The council had applied for them to be evicted and last Wednesday the order was granted at Medway Magistrates’ Court.
It comes after a group of travellers were moved on from the playing fields in Oxley Shaw Lane, Leybourne, on Tuesday, May 2.
Three days later, an encampment was spotted on council-owned land by the corner of St Benedicts Road and Paddlesworth Road in Snodland.
Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council say enforcement officers visited the site yesterday and informed as many occupants as practicable to leave the land as soon as possible.
