Two people have been arrested after reportedly attempting to run a police officer over.
The incident happened at 5.48 this morning at junction 9 (Ashford) when members of Kent Road Policing Unit ordered the car to stop during a routine patrol.
It failed to do so, sparking a chase involving the NPAS helicopter.
Kent Police RPU said the pursuit ended at junction 4 (Leybourne) when they were forced to take 'tactical options'.
An image released by the force shows a blue sedan car which has collided with a police vehicle.
Two men aged 24 and 31 have been arrested on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving, failing to stop and attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm.
No one has been seriously injured, but one officer was left with cuts and bruises. Five police cars were also damaged.
The M20 is currently closed between junction 4 and 2 after a lorry carrying a digger hit a pedestrian bridge yesterday. Workers aim to reopen the stretch by 6pm.
