Basted Lane, near the water pumping station, has been closed to allow the tankers access but this is expected to reopen around 4pm.

People living nearby can continue to use their facilities as normal.

A spokesperson for Southern Water said: “Our teams are dealing with a burst sewage pipe at Sandy Ridge, Borough Green.

"The work has to be done in a difficult spot so we’d like to apologise in advance to householders in the area as we will need to use tankers to manage flows to ensure they receive service as normal.

"We hope the noise and traffic doesn’t cause too much disruption.

"There will also be a road closure in Basted Lane to keep road users and workers safe while tankers operate in the immediate area.

"We’ve been visiting homes close to the burst to inform of works and we’ll keep our customers updated.”
