Pupils at Wrotham School have won a county wide competition about consumer rights.

The youngsters at the Borough Green Road school were taking part in a contest organised by Trading Standards and are now Kent’s young consumers of the year.

The teams had to answer questions about the environment, healthy eating and how to manage their money.

It aims to raise awareness of consumer rights and responsibilities among young people. It is open to pupils between the ages of 14 and 17 and 143 teams from across Kent took part in earlier elimination rounds.

Wrotham fended off competition from 143 teams across Kent in a series of elimination rounds.

They then fended off five schools in a final at County Hall earlier this month, including St Simon Stock in Maidstone, The Skinner’s School in Tunbridge Wells and Walthamstow Hall in Sevenoaks.

Next up is a south east regional final and if they are successful in that they will compete at a national in London in June.
