Thomas Merritt has been winter testing at Brands Hatch for the 2024 BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship.
Merritt, 14, from Kings Hill, was at the Kent track with his Race Car Consultants team.
It was the first time he has driven the actual car he will be racing in next season.
He completed over 70 laps of the Indy Circuit, setting a new personal best, in changing track conditions.
Merritt said: “It was fantastic to be back out on track at Brands Hatch, gaining valuable experience ahead of next season.
“It’s such an iconic circuit and one that’s very close to my heart, with it being my local venue.
“It was also great to spend more time with Race Car Consultants, getting to know the team even better and setting some consistently, competitive lap times.
“The session went very well, and I was able to improve throughout the day, which I am really pleased with.
“I can’t wait to return to Brands next year to race.”
David Ellsley, of Race Car Consultants said: “We were delighted to welcome Thomas to Brands Hatch for a pre-season test.
“He worked hard all day, and we were impressed with his performance.
“Sessions like this give both the team and Thomas an opportunity to build our working relationship, meaning that we’re ready to hit the ground running when the new season starts.”
Merritt was joined by Matt Gould from, Integral London, the first sponsor to sign a deal with Thomas Merritt Racing.
Gould said: “We’re excited to be working with Thomas and believe he’s a really talented young driver.
“We look forward to supporting him next season, and seeing what he can achieve in the Fiesta Junior Championship.”
The first round of the championship takes place at Brands Hatch over the weekend of April 13-14.
