King’s Coronation: Cliffe resident dresses miniature Shetland pony in royal wear

A horse has become a celebrity in her village after parading the streets dressed up like royalty.
Kizzy, a three-year-old miniature Shetland pony, has been spotted this week walking around Cliffe, with her owner Nicky Tucker, wearing a crown.
Nicky said she originally bought the outfit for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee last year but it came a day too late because of the postal strikes.
“She never got to wear it so I thought now would be the perfect time,” the 56-year-old added. “I think she has got quite the fan base now.
“She is making people smile. She has become a bit of a celebrity in the village, I did not expect that.
“I have been shocked by the reactions she is getting. Everyone loves her.”
The outfit includes its very own crown and cape in royal purple – fit for a King.
Nicky, of Millcroft Road, Cliffe, said although most of the reactions to Kizzy’s outfit have been positive, she has had the rare negative comment.
“If she did want it on her, I would not force it on,” Nicky said. “She loves it, she seems happy and she loves people now.
“She even stops when she sees people when we are out walking. She wants them to come over and stroke her.
“I find people just love to see her. I dress her up for all occasions and everyone loves it.”
The pony has been an elf at Christmas, a pumpkin at Halloween and a red unicorn for Valentine’s Day.
Kizzy will also be attending the parade in Cliffe on Saturday when King Charles III is coronated and she will be dressed for the occasion.
