A man whose body was found in a Chatham flat may have been inside the property for some time.
Police were called to an address in Constitution Hill, off Luton Road, at about 6pm yesterday, and made the grim discovery.
It is understood he could have been dead for quite some time and police are carrying out house-to-house inquires in the area in a bid to establish his identity.
The property was cordoned off by police while they carried out investigations at the site, but they say they are not treating the death as suspicious.
The matter was being discussed on social media sites Facebook and Twitter last night and this morning.
Roxanne Newing, said: “I went to my local chip shop last night on Luton Road there was police everywhere and there was blue tape around the front off the house.
“When I walk back past the house I noticed a lot of flies in the window and a really bad smell so I think they found a person dead in the end house.
Natalie Barritt said she saw a private ambulance there later the same night.
She added: “Forensics and a private ambulance were there at midnight alongside the police.”
Tina Furlong added: "A guy hasn’t been seen for a few weeks. Someone reported the flies and smell from the house.”
