A cancer survivor who was once banned from Facebook for posting a picture of her reconstructed breasts has now shaved all her hair off for charity.

Melissa Tullett, 45, is no stranger to publicity after her semi-naked picture caused a media storm back in 2011. Since then she has organised various activities and has been dying her hair all the shades of the rainbow for cancer charities.

She went pink, green, blue, purple and orange, but is now as bald as a babe.

Mel Tullett, from Rochester had all her hair shaved off to raise money for cancer charities, with hairdresser Elsie Reeves.

The brave mother-of-four, who previously underwent a double mastectomy while being treated for the disease, had her hair completely shorn off.

This time she is supporting Macmillan Cancer Support and Breast Cancer Now. She decided to raise money for these causes in memory of a dear friend who died of cancer earlier this year.

Mrs Tullett changed the colour of her hair each month to make the build-up to the headshave more interesting.

The fundraiser took place at her home in Catherine Street, Rochester, at the weekend and her daughter Cerys made the first cut before hairdresser Elsie Reeves carried out the shave.

As well as raising money, Mrs Tullett wanted to show her support for people who lose all their hair when they go through treatment.

She said: “What better way of supporting that than going bald.

“My granddaughter Summer, who is five, decided what colour I should go each month in the run-up to the shave and so far I have raised about £200 for the causes, but more is still coming in.

“It’s not too bad being bald, actually – not that cold.”

Mrs Tullett made the news when she was banned from Facebook for posting a picture of her reconstructed breasts after surgery. She had her account reactivated after the Medway Messenger highlighted her story.
