A drug addict whose home was used to deal Class A drugs in a county lines case has been jailed for two years and nine months.

Karen Blayney allowed a dealer from out of the area to stay at her flat in Penrith Court, Hazlemere Drive, Gillingham.

Police carried out a raid on July 26 last year while 40-year-old Blayney and the man were there and seized packages of drugs and £206 cash.

Blayney admitted two offences of being concerned in the supply of heroin and cocaine.

Maidstone Crown Court heard she had 22 previous court appearances for 49 offences, including soliciting for the purpose of prostitution and theft.

In March 2012, she was jailed for 26 months for six offences of supplying drugs.

The man also arrested is awaiting trial at a London court.

Keith Yardy, defending, said Blayney, who suffers from epilepsy, had reduced her methadone script since being in custody and was taking steps to “get herself clean”.

Mr Yardy said the drugs found at the flat were the man’s stash, but she admitted her involvement to feed her own habit.

Judge David Griffith-Jones QC told Blayney on Monday: “There is aggravation in your previous offences, the nature of which serves to underline the fact you have had an entrenched drugs problem.

“The greatest mitigation lies in your guilty pleas. You appear to have approached your time on remand constructively, which is good to hear.

“You have started what is likely to be a long process of tackling your drugs problem. I hope very much you continue on that path.”
