Air ambulance lands at Rochester prison after inmate injured in assault

An inmate has been taken to hospital after being stabbed, it has been revealed.
The air ambulance was called to HMP Rochester just after 8.30am this morning.
Paramedics from the ambulance service were already on the scene.
It has been confirmed the crews were called to an assault in which an adult male prisoner was injured.
A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 8.25am to a report of an assault at HMP Rochester.
"A male prisoner in his 30s was taken by land ambulance to a London hospital with injuries consistent with stab wounds.
"His injuries are not reported to be life-threatening.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
The air ambulance team assisted paramedics to treat the patient at the scene and he was taken to King's College Hospital in London by road.
Police are investigating and forensic investigation teams have been seen at the site.
A Prison Service spokesperson said: "Following an incident at HMYOI Rochester on Thursday, a prisoner was taken to hospital for treatment.
“Police are investigating and two prisoners have been placed in segregation.”
Rochester is a dual purpose prison housing young offenders aged 18-21 and older Cat C adult offenders.
