Search in Parkwood, Gillingham, after 999 call
09:49, 06 August 2013
The police helicopter was up in the Rainham area last night (Monday) to try to trace a man police were concerned about.
The Kent and Essex police helicopter was called out shortly before 8.40pm to reports of concern for the welfare of a man near Wollaston Close.
Patrols on the ground also conducted a search assisted by the crew in the helicopter but could not locate the man.
Efforts to find him are ongoing say police, but he has apparently been in contact with his partner since the search was stood down.
One woman who saw the helicopter hovering, but didn't want to be named, said: “It was still hovering above the Peveral Green area of Parkwood in Rainham, at about 11pm.”
