Medway Archives and Local Studies Centre moves from Clock Tower to Bryant Road, Strood

Do you have any old photos of Strood hidden away in photo albums or tucked away in the loft?
Medway Archives and Local Studies Centre are looking for photos of the town from before 1980.
A spokesman said: “Have a look now in your old photo albums, the pile of things that need filing, or behind the clock. We are looking for any pictures of the people and places that make Strood special, if you have any pictures that have stories behind them, or are personally significant, we’d love you to share them.”
Share your photos on MALSC’s Facebook page along with a short explanation before Sunday, June 4, to be in with a chance of winning a family ticket to Rochester Castle.
The winning entry will be the image judges consider shows a long-lost or unique vintage view of Strood, such as long-gone buildings and industries, different pubs or original shops, or an area before anything had been built.
The archives close today ahead of a move from the Clock Tower to the former library in Bryant Road, Strood. They will reopen on Tuesday, May 2.
The History Centre in Bryant Road will have a dedicated exhibition space, which will be used to showcase people, places and events of historical importance.
The premises will have facilities for anyone who has an interest in tracing their family history or the story of the local area, including a consultation room for viewing historical documents.
