Armed police surround home in Fourwents Road, Hoo, and close the road after reports of concern for a man

Armed police surrounded a home in Hoo earlier today after reports of concern for a man's welfare.
Six police cars, a dog handler and patrol vehicles were called to Fourwents Road at the corner of Blackman Close.
There were uniformed and plain-clothed officers at the scene, some with hand guns.

The road was closed for two hours, but officers have now lifted the cordon and were seen talking to people nearby.
A police spokeswoman said: "We were called at 12.20pm to following reports of concern for the welfare of a man in a property."
The spokesman later confirmed a 44-year-old man from Hoo was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and is currently in police custody.

It is also understood during a search of the property, officers found two firearms.
There was also an armed seige in Hoo in July, in the other end of the village at Brookside.
