One man, who wanted to remain anonymous, said he saw armed police at the scene and there was two to three female staff members in the store at the time who have "been left petrified".
A nearby shop owner said: "We saw it all on our CCTV, there was an older man and someone that looked like a grandson, a young man, who were scouting out the area before they went in with a firearm, or replica firearm, and took all the currency the store had.
"You can see on the screen how the older man was walking back and forth, waiting for it to be empty."
Police spokesman James Walker said: "At present no injuries have been reported and officers are in attendance conducting inquiries."
