'Arsonist' strikes Allhallows Leisure Park and police arrest a Gillingham man

A man was arrested on suspicion of arson after a car was set alight in a caravan park.

The incident happened at 1.21am on Tuesday in Allhallows Leisure Park.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze.

Later on the same morning, investigating police officers arrested a 27-year-old man from Gillingham on suspicion of arson.

He was released, pending further inquiries.

It is the second time this month the emergency services have investigated a fire at the park.

On Monday, July 8 police officers and fire crews attended the holiday destination after a chalet was destroyed by flames.

Police believe the incident was suspicious and are still investigating.

The caravan park is owned by Haven, the holiday park has decided not to comment.
