Maidstone man charged with attempted murder after stabbing in Chatham High Street

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a high street stabbing.
Ray Chirisa was arrested after officers were called to the scene near Rhode Street in Chatham at around 8.05pm on Monday (October 28).
Paramedics arrived at the scene and found a victim, in his 30s, who was treated for stab wound injuries.
He was later taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Chirisa, of Hermitage Lane in Maidstone, was arrested the same same evening in Gillingham and taken into custody.
He was charged today (October 30) on suspicion of attempted murder and possessing a knife in a public place.
The 33-year-old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
A police spokesman said: “The incident is being treated as isolated and detectives are urging any witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to contact the appeal line.”
