A woman says she has been left shaken up and traumatised after a neighbour threatened to kill her with a baseball bat when she stepped in to defend another resident.
Catherine Troy was in her block of flats in Strood when she says she came across a man swearing at a fellow tenant and decided to speak up.
The 63-year-old said: "I made the wrong judgment call. I went round the corner and I told him he was nothing but a bully.
"He went back in to his flat and came out with a baseball bat. He told me to back off and I said I was not going to, so he hit me.
"He put the baseball bat over his head and his face was completely distorted. He said 'I am going to ******* kill you'.
"My other neighbour could not believe it was happening. I was scared do not get me wrong. I was scared and I had to walk away."
Catherine said although she did not suffer any injuries following the alleged attack on Monday at around 6.20pm she is still shaken up by it.
"He put the baseball bat over his head and his face was completely distorted..."
"I am a bit traumatised," she said. "I should have seen it coming. I have worked in security all my life, I should have seen it coming and I did not.
"I am quite a strong person but I was still scared rigid. He did not knock me over but if it was someone else they would have fallen.
"I feel absolutely awful about the whole incident itself. I made the wrong call. I should not have got involved but it should not have happened. It was just the shock."
She did report the incident to the police who confirmed inquires are ongoing.
A spokesman added: "Kent Police has received a report of a disagreement between two neighbours that resulted in a man allegedly pressing a baseball bat towards a woman’s stomach."
