Firefighters used breathing apparatus to tackle a fire in a home in the Medway Towns last night.
A crew were called out to Medway Road, in Gillingham, shortly before 7.30pm after a fire broke out in the bedroom of a property there.
It is understood rays from the sun reflecting onto a mirror through a window caused the blaze.
Thick black smoke could be seen billowing from the top floor window of the house as the crew arrived on the scene.
The homeowners, a couple, were able to get out of the property safely and the crew spent more than an hour tackling the flames and left the scene at about 9pm.
The property suffered significant damage as a result of the flames.
