Inquest into death of popular biker Ollie Jennings

A much loved biker died after crashing into a roundabout on his way home from a party, an inquest has heard.
Ollie Jennings, 25, was fatally injured in the accident on the A228 Peninsula Way, at the roundabout with Main Road, Hoo, shortly before 12.30am on the morning of Sunday, May 14.
An inquest held at Archbishop’s Palace in Maidstone on Monday this week heard evidence to suggest he had not noticed the roundabout before braking too late.
Tests found he was twice the legal alcohol limit for driving, with a blood alcohol level of 159 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80.
The cause of death was determined to be multiple injuries, with alcohol intoxication listed as a contributory factor and the coroner gave a formal conclusion of “road traffic collision”.
Mr Jennings’ girlfriend – who had also been on the bike and was injured in the crash – was said to have been making progress in her recovery.
The loss of Mr Jennings in May prompted a flood of online tributes, with friends remembering him as lovable and loyal.
Well known and respected in Crayford and among many bike clubs, hundreds of mourners from his home town and across the world went to his funeral. His family said he would be missed by all who knew him. One close friend said Ollie would be remembered for his “booming voice and brilliant laugh”.
Speaking to the Messenger at the time of his death, the woman who asked not to be named, added: “Ollie was a local legend and a true gentleman.
“He was a loyal man with a good heart and the best sense of humour ever.
“He touched thousands of hearts and is a true loss to us all.”
