A prolific beggar who is on his third Asbo has been jailed after admitting pestering people for money again.

Sukhvender Singh Deo, 44, received his third order in March last year.

It was due to run until March 2017, but he has now appeared before Medway magistrates charged with breaching the order.

He also pleaded guilty to another charge of stealing 80p. The court heard he stole the cash from Eric Hipwood at Five Ways Court, Chatham, on January 26.

Just four days later he was asking Bergusum Kaur for money at Chatham Bus Station.

Magistrates sent Deo, of Lester Road, Chatham, to prison for 120 days.

The third Asbo was given after Deo admitted harassment without violence. He was banned from begging or seeking charitable donations, alms or loans from anyone except a charity or financial institution.

The order also banned him from loitering near cash machines or acting in an anti-social manner.

It lasted for three years. Deo has been begging in the Towns for years and has become known as "Billy the Quid".

He has previously been given two Asbos, the first in March 2006 when he was ordered to keep out of Chatham town centre.

It ran for two years, but Deo began begging in the town again when it expired.

In 2010, magistrates imposed a second order banning him from entering a large part of Chatham town centre.

Deo breached this order on at least one occasion, and was later charged with harassing a woman for money.

He was jailed for two years and given an indefinite restraining order banning him from contacting the woman.
