Gravesend teen and East London man arrested as police investigate drug dealing in Chatham

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested by police investigating reports crack cocaine and heroin were being sold in a town centre.
The boy, who is from Gravesend, was arrested in Chatham High Street.
Officers found 80 wraps of suspected crack cocaine and heroin, along with a large knife, mobile phone and almost £100 in cash.
The teenager has since been released from police custody pending further inquries.
In a separate incident, a driver was arrested after police found around 20 packets of suspected crack cocaine and heroin and around £500 in cash in a car.
The search was carried out at 11.30am on Friday, September 20 near Silverweed Road, Chatham.
The driver attempted to evade the officers but was followed down a dead-end road.
A 43-year-old man from East London was arrested and later released on bail while the investigation continues.
The arrests were part of a police and council crackdown to tackle drug dealing in Medway.
District commander for Medway, Chief Inspector Ian Dyball, said: "Our patrols continually monitor the streets of Medway for drug dealing activity and will not hesitate to take action when they suspect offending is taking place.
"Everyone has a role to play in preventing the supply of drugs and I would encourage anyone to report concerns they have to us on 101, or via the online reporting facility on the Kent Police website.’
