Thomas Aveling School pupil stabbed in stomach in The Fairway, Rochester as he makes his way way home from class

A teenage boy is recovering at home after being stabbed in the stomach with what is thought to be a knife.

The 15-year-old, a pupil at The Thomas Aveling School, in Rochester, suffered a small stab wound on Friday when he was thought to be walking home.

The boy, who has not been named, was injured in The Fairway, in Rochester, which is not far from the school’s playing field at the back of its site.

It is understood police are looking for an 18-year-old man in connection with the stabbing, but officers have yet to make an arrest.

Paul Jackson, head teacher at the school in Arethusa Road, said staff had been supporting the boy and his family since he was injured and that staff are looking forward to him returning to class.

It is understood the boy suffered a 1cm wound to his stomach and it is thought trouble may have erupted between the pair before the incident, on social media site, Facebook.

Mr Jackson added: “I am able to confirm the victim attends The Thomas Aveling School.

“Our staff have offered support to his family and we are looking forward to welcoming the student back when he is fit to return.”

A spokeswoman for Kent Police confirmed officer are investigating the incident and are appealing for witnesses.

The spokeswoman said: “Police are investigating an assault which occurred at 3.30pm on Friday, June 19, in The Fairway, Rochester.

“It is reported that a 15-year-old boy was wounded in the stomach with a weapon.

“It is thought the victim and the suspect are known to each other.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
