Young boy suffers head injury at Cyclopark in Gravesend and is airlifted to hospital

A youngster cut his head open after falling down a ramp at the Cyclopark complex in Gravesend yesterday afternoon.

The boy, who is believed to be nine, was injured in the skateboarding area of the park and had to be taken to hospital.

Two ambulances were called to the venue, in Wrotham Road, Istead Rise, at about 3pm and the boy was initially treated by paramedics, including a team from the Kent Air Ambulance, before being taken to Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham.

The multi-sport open-air venue is popular with young skaters and also has a BMX track, mountain bike trails a children’s play area and more.

A spokesman for the park, said: “A boy fell down a ramp and cut his head open."

Staff at the park initially said the boy had been airlifted to hospital but emergency services confirmed today he was taken by road.
