Medway’s open-top tour bus, complete with Brian Blessed’s booming commentary, is set to return this summer.

More than 3,000 people hopped on board the big purple bus when it took to the roads for the first time last year.

Tours around the Towns ran for 50 days, with an average of 60 passengers each day.

The bus will again operate on an all-day hop on/hop off basis, enabling families to stop off wherever they choose and enjoy discounted entry at local attractions.

Brian Blessed’s famous voice will guide visitors around various destinations, including the castle and cathedral in Rochester, Fort Amherst, Brompton Royal Engineers Museum, Chatham Maritime, Dickens World, the Historic Dockyard Chatham and Eastgate House.

Before the bus returns later this year, it stopped off at the Medway Festival of Steam and Transport at Chatham’s Historic Dockyard at the weekend, giving visitors the chance to find out more about this summer's tours.

Cllr Howard Doe, in charge of community services, said: “We trialled the open-top tour bus last year and it was such a success that we had to bring it back.”
