Two brothers are facing sentence after they attacked another man in the street, leaving him with serious head injuries.

Prosecutor Vivian Walters said there was an altercation between Andrej Pohlodko, 26, and Mr Rakas. Pohlodko then went to his car and grabbed the wheel brace.

The confrontation continued and Pohlodko swung the weapon repeatedly.

His brother, 27, arrived in his car and launched a flying kick at the victim’s head.

“Both men continued to assault him, the defendant with the weapon and the other defendant kicking him,” Miss Walters told Maidstone Crown Court.

Both of the Slovakian brothers were responsible for the injuries, she said.

“David Pohlodko had a weapon equivalent” of a 'shod' foot.”

Miss Walters said one of the wounds to Mr Rakas’s head was serious.

He also had bruising to his back and kidneys. He claimed Andrej Pohlodko drove at him and he had to jump out of the way.

Andrej Pohlodko, of Laburnham Road, Strood, admitted wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and having an offensive weapon.

David Pohlodko, of Otway Street, Chatham, admitted unlawful wounding.

Jaroslav Balog, 19, of Edinburgh Road, Chatham, and Julius Duna, 19, of Whitehorse Hill, Chatham, denied all three charges and the case against them was dropped. The pleas were entered shortly before all four were due to stand trial.

The judge, Recorder Brian Argyle, said: “These are extremely serious matters. It was a sustained and repeated assault with a weapon.”

The range for sentencing, he said, was nine to 16 years imprisonment. But adjourning for reports to consider dangerousness until the week beginning October 30, he added that all sentencing options were open.

Andrej Pohlodko was remanded in custody. Conditional bail was continued for David Pohlodko.
