updated: 11:19, 06 September 2016

Changes to Arriva timetables in Medway this month will see more frequent services between Chatham, Gillingham and Medway Maritime Hospital.

There will also be more frequent Sunday services to Bluewater and better links to the Universities at Medway campus at Chatham Maritime.

The changes, almost all of which come into effect on September 18, include more buses for Walderslade, with services 176 and 177 being combined to run every 10 minutes.

Two routes will no longer operate. The 675 school bus from Chatham and Lordswood to the Victory Academy in Chatham and schools in the Weedswood area stopped on Saturday (September 4).

While the 185 to the Davis Estate will also stop, but will be replaced by a Nu-Venture service.

There are a number of changes to school buses, including:

Service 600: Buses re-timed to improve reliability;

Service 633: Morning bus runs nine minutes earlier;

Service 653: Buses re-timed and start earlier at 6.57am;

Service 660: Morning bus runs five minutes later;

Service 675: From September 4, service no longer runs;

Service 689: Morning bus starts from Darnley Road Bottom. Students between Chatham and Strood can catch service 191, which runs a few minutes later;

Service 694: Additional running time scheduled on both journeys between Wainscott and Higham to improve reliability;

Service 695: A new service beginning on September 4 and running from Istead Rise to Meopham, Cobham, Strood and Rochester grammar schools.

The frequency of the Sunday 700 service to Bluewater will increase to every half hour, and the Sunday 145 service will be increased to run every 20 minutes.

Links to the Universities at Medway will be improved, with route 191 altered to run through the campus.

Craig Taylor, marketing manager for Arriva, said: “In addition to the headline changes, we are making a number of minor alterations elsewhere to improve reliability on most services.

“Unfortunately, we have taken the decision to stop running service 185 to the Davis Estate. This route will now be covered by our colleagues at Nu-Venture, and details of their timetable can be found at www.nu-venture.co.uk.”
