Army-style fun for cadets at open day at Brompton Barracks in Chatham

Youngsters worked hard to complete an assault course and other Army-style activities when they went along to an open day at Brompton Barracks.

About 120 cadets from 10 groups in the area visited the home of the Royal School of Military Engineering Regiment and the Corps of Royal Engineers, which is in Chatham.

Teams of 16 youngsters took part in the fun.

Challenges included an assault boat rafting race, indoor assault course, plant equipment stand and field gun pull.

There were also other displays and activities for the youngsters to tackle.

Cadets aged between 13 and 16 took part.

A total of 14 adult volunteers participated as well as 50 regular Army soldiers.

This weekend thousands of people are expected to go along to the Armed Forces Day at the nearby Great Lines Heritage Park, in Gillingham.
