A photographer who worked on a BBC documentary celebrating Billy Connolly’s 75th birthday is showcasing his work in Medway.
John Cruttenden grew up in the Towns before moving to Scotland six years ago, where he took up photography.
The former Hundred of Hoo pupil said: “My brother-in-law, Royston, handed me a camera and the first photo I took was of the Northern lights. Since then I have been hooked.
“My favourite photographs are landscapes or seascapes and also documentary images, showing harsh realities.
“I’m driven by the beauty that Scotland has to offer and the total isolation that can be found there.”
Having worked as a chef for most of his life, he is now studying photography at Glasgow’s Kelvin College.
Watch: John's time-lapse
The 32-year-old is a fine art landscape photographer and works in both film and digital, experimenting with creative techniques.
His pictures have been displayed alongside members of the Royal Photographic Society, published in journals and sold around the country.
Earlier this month, a time-lapse that John created was used in the BBC documentary, Billy Connolly: Portrait of a Lifetime.
To celebrate the Glasgow-born performer’s birthday, the city gave him three 50-foot murals of himself.
John, now based in the Scottish city, filmed artist Jack Vettriano’s painting of the comedian being created on a wall near St Enoch Square by the aerosol artist Rogue-One.
He is now returning home where his photos will be on display at Demelza’s shop in Rochester High Street from Sunday, July 2, for two weeks.
His work will be available to buy and 20% of all sales will go to the charity.
