Anim-Mates is making an urgent appeal to cat lovers who live in or around the ME3 (Hoo and Grain) area to care for a rescued cat until it can be rehomed.
Volunteer Bobbie Bajwa said: “Our number of cat fosterers has dwindled recently, mainly because some of them have fallen in love with the cat they were caring for, and ended up adopting them.
“There are cats who we desperately want to rescue, but we have run out of spaces.”
One of them is Jake, who is living in an empty house in Rochester.
Since his owner passed away and left his beloved cat behind, visiting relatives have been feeding Jake but none of them are in a position to give him a new home.
Bobbie added: “Jake urgently needs a fosterer or a new owner as the house is about to be sold.
“Jake, who is 11, is very friendly and loves human company. He adores cuddles, fuss and lots of attention. He has been well looked after.
“Jake lived with two other cats until they passed away last year, so he would be happy to move in where there are other cats.
“He is very much an indoor cat but sometimes ventures outside – but not when it’s cold or raining.”
Jake has been neutered and microchipped and is up to date with vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and has had regular vet checks.
If you could foster Jake or offer him a new home, contact Bobbie on 07808 625519.
