Police ban Medway driver from using damaged car 'held by tape'
15:45, 10 March 2023
A motorist has been banned from using their car after it was spotted by police being held together by a bungee cord and masking tape.
The vehicle was seen in Medway by road policing officers this afternoon.
They noticed there were no brake lamps showing on the back of the car, the boot didn't latch shut and was held by a bungee cord.
They tweeted: "Rear window has been replaced with perspex – held in only by tape!"
As a result the driver was issued a PG9 – which bans the use of the car on a public road.
This is usually given out when a vehicle is found to be unfit for use or would cause risk of injury to a person.
Kent Police Medway added: "Multi-agency working at its best today.
"#MedwayTaskForce spotted the vehicle and reported the driver for numerous offences.
"We then contacted @KentPoliceRural and @medway_council who attended to discuss the illegal waste carrying, before #RPU1 assisted with a #PG9."
