They noticed there were no brake lamps showing on the back of the car, the boot didn't latch shut and was held by a bungee cord.

They tweeted: "Rear window has been replaced with perspex – held in only by tape!"

As a result the driver was issued a PG9 – which bans the use of the car on a public road.

This is usually given out when a vehicle is found to be unfit for use or would cause risk of injury to a person.

Kent Police Medway added: "Multi-agency working at its best today.

"#MedwayTaskForce spotted the vehicle and reported the driver for numerous offences.

"We then contacted @KentPoliceRural and @medway_council who attended to discuss the illegal waste carrying, before #RPU1 assisted with a #PG9."
