Car overturns outside Papa John's Pizza takeaway after crashing into bollard in London Road, Strood

A car overturned after it crashed into an infamous metal "bell".

Police were called to London Road, Strood, today after a vehicle crashed into the bollard near Papa John's Pizza takeaway.

The car was seen on its side after clipping the metal bell, which stops vehicles mounting the pavement to protect pedestrians on the Gun Lane junction.

An ambulance was also at the scene and police tape was put around the car.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We were called at 11.20am to this incident which happened in the High Street.

"The collision involved one vehicle, a Fiat 500, and there were no reported injuries."

It has damaged a number of cars over the years and even caused some to flip.

Last year, a driver escaped serious injury after their car collided with the "bell".

A driver miraculously escaped serious injury in 2014 after they overturned their car on the corner.
