Police were called to Corporation Street, Rochester, after a car collided with a lamppost and overturned just before 6.20am this morning.

Witnesses describing the aftermath of the scene near Rochester Bridge said lights at the pedestrian crossing had been knocked over and railings were damaged.

Police closed the road while the scene was made safe but it was reopened by 8.55am.

No serious injuries were reported but one man, believed to be the driver, was taken to hospital.
