Road closed as vehicle overturns on Island Way East, St Mary's Island in Chatham

Police and firefighters are at the scene of a crash which has seen a vehicle overturn in Chatham.
The accident happened this evening on Island Way East on St Mary's Island, leaving the people carrier on its side and a street light bent.

Eyewitness Daniel Jervis, 29, described hearing a screeching sound and a loud bang when the vehicle crashed.
He said: "The first thing I saw was the guy climbing out the window, he was obviously in shock, eyes wide open, bloodshot, kinda confused, not knowing where he was."
Neighbours from nearby houses came out to clear up debris from the road and put up a warning sign.
A police car and a fire engine attended the scene, where smoke was seen coming from the crashed vehicle.
