A driver has had their car seized by police after it was spotted travelling along the M2 with its bumper hanging off.
And officers also ended up arresting the recovery vehicle driver after carrying out a drug test.
The saga began when the car was pulled over by patrols on the motorway coming over the Medway Bridge near Rochester.
The Nissan was stopped by officers in a marked police car.
A tweet with a picture of the car posted by the Roads Policing Unit said: "No surprises why this one was stopped then.
"Driver suitably advised regarding vehicle roadworthiness and car prohibited from driving any further."
The driver was not arrested but a spokesman said they were issued with a traffic offence report for the dangerous condition of the vehicle.
But when the recovery vehicle arrived officers were forced to take further action.
They tweeted: "So the saga continues… Recovery truck coming to collect the vehicle in our last tweet had no valid VEL, driver then fails a roadside drug wipe and is arrested.
"Oh dear!! Hopefully they will have more luck with the second recovery vehicle/driver."
